Right now we are counting on the support of Representative Ted Poe to introduce a resolution on ending violence against women and girls internationally, modeled after the International Violence Against Women Act (IVAWA). The resolution will make ending gender-based violence a top priority in U.S. international assistance.

If you live in Representative Poe's district (2nd-Texas), please call his local district offices in Texas using this toll free number (866) 425-6565. Here's some sample language you can use when you call:

  • "As a constituent of Representative Poe's, I'm calling to urge Judge Poe to introduce a resolution on ending violence against women internationally. This resolution will help save lives around the world. Mr. Poe has been a leader on this issue for many years and the time is now to show that leadership again."

Anyone can help us urge Rep. Poe to introduce the resolution by taking action on social media. By tweeting at Rep. Poe and writing on his Facebook wall, we're sending a strong message to the Congressman that the time is now to introduce this important resolution that will benefit millions of women and girls worldwide.
