Anna Deavere Smith to Perform at National Conference on Health and Domestic Violence - Register Today!
Award winning actress and playwright Anna Deavere Smith will perform part of her one-woman show on healthcare, Let Me Down Easy, during the biennial National Conference on Health & Domestic Violence to be held in San Francisco March 29 – 31, 2012.
The Conference will feature cutting-edge research and practice on the intersection of healthcare and violence prevention. With 13 in-depth Pre-Conference Institutes, 170 workshop presentations, in addition to plenary and keynote sessions, the Conference is one of the largest forums of its kind for advocates, clinicians, and researchers.
Leading experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the World Health Organization will present during plenary sessions and workshop topics that range from responding to victims of human trafficking to the role of technology in preventing teen dating violence. In addition, two of the workshops being offered this year will focus specifically on military veterans who are victims of intimate partner violence (IPV).
The Conference will kick-off with a plenary presentation by Johanna Orozco, teen dating violence survivor and outspoken advocate, whose story has been featured on The View and Oprah.
