Prevention in Progress: Family Violence Prevention Summit 2009
This two-day summit and premiere training event will help advance capacity to deliver quality family violence prevention services in the Ohio region. It will offer a slate of workshops featuring nationally recognized experts from the field while also showcasing Ohio-based expertise, prevention examples and resources. The event will provide a collective forum for stakeholders in child abuse, intimate partner violence, and elder abuse to join together to address preventing perpetration before it may occur and incorporate technology, interactive teaching, and local data to engage and empower communities and social service organizations for greater impact. National Conference on Youth Violence and Technology: Keeping Our Kids Safe in a Virtual World
Clarian Health and the Indiana Partnership to Prevent Violent Injury and Death are presenting this conference to explore the risks and adverse effects of technology harassment, reduce the risk for youth of becoming victims of electronic aggression, and study best-practices for preventing online and traditional youth violence. 34th Annual National Organization for Men Against Sexism’s Men and Masculinities Conference
The Oregon Attorney General’s Sexual Assault Task Force is organizing the conference in partnership with the Portland State University Women’s Resource Center. This year’s theme is “Roots of Change: Men, Sex and Justice,” and the conference will focus on the whys, hows and implications of engaging men in the primary prevention of sexual violence. More than 30 workshops will address the interrelated factors that influence sexual violence, the development and implementation of effective programs, current research in sexual violence prevention and healthy sexuality promotion, and gender equity as it relates to sexual violence. First National Conference for Campus-Based Men’s Gender Equality & Anti-Violence Groups
This conference will be the first chance for male students from across the country to explore how to find positive ways to reach campus men with messages against dating and other forms of men’s violence, and for gender equality. It will provide opportunities to discuss how to deal with backlash and hostility, and how to work in partnership with women’s groups. St. John’s University will host the conference.
