April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Apr 11, 2011

Every day in America, countless acts of sexual abuse and violence occur in private – but some occur in public and are witnessed. Raising awareness about sexual violence prevention and giving bystanders real-life, responsible ways to intervene is the focus of the 2011 Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) campaign.

On April 5, the SAAM “Day of Action,” violence prevention advocates were encouraged to take a picture of themselves and/or friends holding a clock announcing “It’s time... to get involved.” Photos of “Day of Action” participants can be shared with the National Sexual Violence Resource Center.
