Futures Without Violence Applauds Supreme Court’s Upholding of Affordable Care Act

Washington, DC - Futures Without Violence issued the following statement on the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the Affordable Care Act:

“Today, we applaud the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which will protect and advance quality health services for all Americans. The shift and investment in prevention by the ACA allows women to access annual preventive health screenings and counseling for domestic violence. Important new consumer protections mean women can no longer be denied health insurance based on a history of domestic violence. And, it also affirms a commitment to innovative domestic and sexual violence prevention initiatives in home visitation and teen pregnancy programs that will keep families safe and healthy.

For 30 years, we've been advocating for violence-free communities that support women and families, and today's decision to maintain the ACA's commitment to quality health care is not only a milestone in our history, but in America's as well.”
