New Film
Sep 19, 2008
A new movie, Hounddog, is opening this week around the country. The film, which stars 14-year-old Dakota Fanning, depicts sexual violence against a child and her process of healing. The film is controversial and some violence prevention and women’s leaders are speaking out on its behalf.
“Hounddog is a haunting film in which Dakota Fanning beautifully and bravely portrays a young girl who is raped. Thousands of girls a year are raped, abducted, sold, incested and yet there is a huge silence surrounding this issue. This film bravely and poignantly breaks the taboo.”
---Eve Ensler, Writer and V-Day Founder
“Women especially should see this important, unforgettable film – and take the men they love with them.”
---Gloria Steinem
