General Purpose Bequests

General Purpose Bequests are bequests that Futures Without Violence, formerly Family Violence Prevention Fund, may use for its general operating purposes.

General purpose bequest language:

“I give and bequeath to Futures Without Violence, formerly Family Violence Prevention Fund, a California nonprofit corporation, [the sum of $________ / description of the specific asset / ___% of the residue of my estate], to be used for its general purposes.

Specific Purpose Bequests

Specific Purpose Bequests are bequests that are designated for a specific purpose or project of Futures Without Violence. Because the particular programs and needs of Futures Without Violence may change over time, Futures Without Violence must have the power to re-direct your bequest if the stated purpose ceases to be appropriate. To help ensure that your gift can be used as you wish, please call our staff to discuss your intentions.

Specific purpose bequest language:

“I give and bequeath to Futures Without Violence, formerly Family Violence Prevention Fund, a California nonprofit corporation, [the sum of $________ / description of the specific asset / ___% of the residue of my estate], to be used for the following purpose: [state specific purpose]. If at any time in the judgment of the Board of Directors of Futures Without Violence it is impossible or impracticable to carry out exactly the above designated purpose, it shall use the gift for a purpose as near as practical to the above purpose.

Contingent Bequests

Contingent Bequests allow you to leave a bequest to Futures Without Violence if a specific beneficiary does not survive you.

Contingent bequest language:

“I give and bequeath [the sum of $________ / description of the specific asset / ___% of the residue of my estate] to [name of primary beneficiary], if [he/she] survives me, and if [he/she] does not, to Futures Without Violence, formerly Family Violence Prevention Fund, a California nonprofit corporation, to be used for its general purposes.”
