Domestic Violence Health Care Partnership Project
FUTURES proudly partnered with Blue Shield of California Foundation on the Domestic Violence Health Care Partnership (DVHCP), a statewide project to integrate health care and domestic violence response systems throughout California.
Through a competitive application process, nineteen teams comprised of local domestic violence organizations and health care facilities were selected to develop policy and clinical responses to domestic and sexual violence. The initiative also provides tools and resources for domestic violence advocates to connect survivors with health services.
The teams provided much-needed prevention and intervention services, many in medically underserved communities that have high rates of domestic and sexual violence.
As part of a final product for DVHCP, FUTURES created a comprehensive website (www.dvhealthpartnerships.org) that provides the step-by-step details of how the teams built and sustained their partnerships. The website also includes the challenges and lessons learned from the team, and is a go-to resource for domestic violence agencies and health settings that are beginning this work.
